As most local restaurants come in and out of lockdown, social distancing, forced closures or limited services has had a devastating effect on revenues.
Restaurants that have survived so far have had to pivot and implement some form of takeaway or limited delivery service as well as offering online ordering and table booking systems.
They were forced to turn to Doordash, Uber Eats or similar delivery options to salvage what business they could – quickly. The problem is the profit gauging commissions and fees they are forced to pay.
Looking ahead, as lockdowns are relaxed, Restaurant owners will need to optimize their current online systems which are still going to be critical but also be able to compete and build their revenues again.
Customers will still expect the convenience of online ordering and delivery or pickup and will want reassurance that restaurants are safe for dining at.
